Can anyone recommend a known garage in the Liphook-Havant area who is experienced in head gasket failure on a 1.8VVC? My car has been off the road for a week and the earliest my normal garage can do it is Wednesday week!!

Well known for blowing on those engines aren't they?

Could you not attempt it yourself. Cant be as bad as my Clio's one surely!
Normally I would, it's not a difficult job, just fiddly but I've no time or space! I've got my TVR in bits in the garage and my housemate's TVR on the drive waiting for me to fix brakes and lights for the weekend. Need the BRM on the road ASAP because my MG only does 20 MPG! It's been over a week already!

More importantly, make sure you get the modified Freelander MLS Head gasket with the head saver shim, my lad has just had his TF160 done under warranty at New park Garage in Park Gate, did a good job, but we supplied the gasket and shim.
Already ordered the MLS gasket and shim, uprated inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets, stainless steel dowels (to replace the cr*p nylon Rover ones), new stretch bolts, water pump and complete set of gaskets and seals!
