Which areas are the good areas to live in greater manchester.

My new job is near M14 postcode. We will be moving back with two kids under age 8.

We used to live in prestwich and like to move back there but can't find any 3 bed property within our budget (£850 pcm). Looking for property near good schools and local amenities.

Traffic is a nightmare. I used to live just off Oxford Rd.
I would also think about schools. How old are the kids?
There are very few decent schools in Manchester.
Age 4 and 8.

Indeed. I was living in M14 and working close to the airport 15 years ago and that was bad enough (going other direction to everyone else) and still took c.30 min.

Current commute is 3 and a bit miles and takes c.30 min most days by car. Bike is just under 10 mins.

The councils in Manchester have had it in for the car driver since they lost the congestion charge vote.

The latest one is that Oxford Road is going bus only...

And of course we have all seen the crazy A6/A580 developments.
How long would it take to travel to M14 7HR from prestwich in traffic?

Stretford has good schools, is it good area to live?

I'm in the new stuff on the old hospital site, nice place to live, no trouble. Standard modern housing problems such as lack of parking and streets thus not being suitable for kids on bikes apply. Very handy for the tram.
You meant near Darley Avenue?
