Caterham for the day next week - recommended routes please
Discussion
Hi all,
Due to inclement weather on the day, deferred my trip until Tuesday this week (26th) – and I have to say a BIG thank you to Simon Clough who, without hesitation, suggested that it would be better if I waited for a better day, weather wise.
I will post a bit more information (I planned a ‘hybrid’ of the suggested routes) when I get more time.
In a nutshell, I had a fantastic time – the Caterham I hired had done less than 500 miles, it was beautifully turned out and prepared; the whole experience was faultless.
Simon was absolutely ‘bob on’ when he suggested that a 1.6 was a great choice for a road trip – not crazy as regards racing to a ridiculous speed but still lets you experience the great aspects of the car. I can see the appeal.
I’ve done the track days (Ferrari, Stock Car, Formula Ford etc) … but this was a very different and very unique enjoyable experience. Freedom to go where we wanted without the rush or pressure from an instructor.
I have to say that it was very strange to drive home in my 6.2 litre, 500 BHP Monaro (that felt like I was driving a truck!).
Anyway – thank you for the suggested route guys – and thank you again for a memorable experience Simon – it’s certainly something I’d recommend.
Oh – and here’s a link …
