Just to let people know, in case they've missed this gem.

York City Council have decided to shut the bridge, the one closest to the station, to all cars for a trial period of 6 months.

As you can imagine this is going to be a real issue for residents needing to cross town, to the hospital or station for example.

There is a petition pointing out the stupidity of this on the York council local gov website.

I'd encourage anyone to sign it, it takes 2 minutes, and may just make the clowns think again.

Well, they voted it in last night.

Despite overwhelming opposition from those who cared about the issue and the chamber of commerce.

Trial run begins in August for six months.

Lunacy.

Possibly because its still the middle of the summer holidays?

Wait until its wet and every ones back at work, the real volumes and chaos can then be judged.

Just made a journey out of town to the north from the city centre that I make twice a week.

Its added ten minutes to the journey time, without the schools being in and also being in the middle of the day with pretty light traffic.

Much larger queing all around the inner ring road than you'd normally expect.

Can't wait to see what happens under a more normal traffic load....

I was sat having a coffee on Sunday morning, about 11.00am, just next to the bridge in the new coffee shop near the library, epic bacon sarnies by the way.

In around 10-15 minues more than a dozen cars went through.

At the rate they're going they'll be able to reduce council tax soon!

Still blocked solid around past the Barbican along to Foss Islands every day mind.

Be prepared for 10p short defending York CC to the hilt.

He does it all the time, a bit like a small annoying dog continuing to bark.

It's regarding his unfailing support for clampers/parking fines etc, nothing against the fella directly, it's just a little tiresome.

Mark, if you've not seen it the budget proposals got leaked to the Lib-Dems and are in the Press today.

Somewhat large reduction in roads budget for one thing.

You should read some of the comments on the press website! There's apparently a troll up voting the council/green agenda comments, not many of them, and down voting all others.

A quick glance at the numbers tends to make it fairly obvious though.

The arrow refers straight to YCC bank.

Cash or cheques are equally acceptable to pay for their Xmas party.

There's a Facebook group, which have had some details of what works at the appeal level.

I think they're posting them up.

Liebour have blocked a democratic vote on re-opening by talking until time ran out.

Clearly scared of democracy and letting the people have a say in their city.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Bunch of pinko tts.

Frankly, I don't think I could live with dealing with the amount of stupid involved in YCC.

Fines now cancelled, but still taking numbers as they're looking to send them out if they get the legal greenlight.

An actual democratic vote?

Who'd have thunk it from The Dear Leader JA?

Shame the people of York where never trusted to make that call.

I hope resignations follow shortly.
