Went to Scarborough with my mate on Saturday night taking the A64, thought we would take the scenic route back down towards Pickering then along the roads behind Castle Howard. We set off from the north bay about 5.30 but i think we turned off too early and ended up on this increasingly narrow rural road which seemed to go on forever but didnt lead anywhere. Eventually we found ourselves at the toll for Dalby Forest Drive - so considering we would have had to go all the way back to Scarborough again for a different route we decided to take the drive. For the next 7 miles through the heart of the forest we passed not one single car in any direction (by this time it was about 6pm). Awsome roads full of twists and turns - i can see why they hold rallys in the area. So i booted it all the way round - got the car absolutley filthy with mud and brake dust. I wondered why for the rest of the journey i couldent see the road very well, when we got back we noticed the thick layer of mud on the headlights and driving lamps (was as if there was some tracing paper covering them). Almost killed Bambi, she ran into the road at high speed, stood there and casually walked out of the way as i screamed to a halt.

Anyone else been for a bit of a burn round there?

It was great fun, bearing in mind if was dark damp and foggy - i would love to go back there in a Impreza WRX with some appropriate tyres and a set of xenons.

Yes there were some speed bumps - but im sure they were those tiny sharp ones which arent very high - tiv should get over them - you just have to go over them very slowly in any car.

I had never been on the road before, let alone at night in the fog at speed with not very good headlights - on the straights i was scared to death there was going to be barrier across the road appearing from the mist then crash!

but in the end it was awsome - most bizzare drive i have ever done.
