Morning all, thought I'd post this up on here if anyone is interested..

We've wanted to do another trip to follow on from my previous trip over in 2008. We have been saying we would go back every year but never got round to it, until this year finally.

2008 there was only the two of us, this time we had 12! (Old blog here if anyone is interested - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Anyways, onto some pics smile

Meeting point was Queensferry early on and then convoy down to Newcastle for the ferry over to Amsterdam.. All pretty uneventful..

Arrived at the port

On the Ferry

£310 each for this!!!

Amsterdam refuel

The journey down to the Hotel was good, we broke off into two groups as its quite difficult having 7 cars all trying to follow. The scenery once you pull off the motorway is beautiful

Arrived at the Hotel. Pretty basic hotel and the breakfast isnt up to much, but its clean, cheap and in the perfect location

Few beers at night time and a steak on a stone.. I thought this was a bit of a novelty but really it was a pain in the ass. Wouldn't go again

Some track pics of us all in action. My pictures didnt come out very well as I had it on Shutter Preference but the ISO was set far too high.. Nevermind! The track itself was very quiet, which we didnt expect. Almost no queues the whole weekend.

We definately got lucky with the weather, it was roasting all weekend, until the day we left and it absolutely lashed it down.. Made an interesting night on the ferry home! TERRIBLE!

All in all a superb trip, a good bit more expensive than the last one due to fuel and ferry prices, but worth it! biggrin

Complaints aside sounds like you had a good trip, rofl

Good pics of the evora!

Ferry prices are much cheaper if you book in advance, also surprised you didn't like Pistonclause if that's where you got the steaks, was it quiet? Usually there's a good atmosphere and the steaks are tasty.
You sure? We booked a good while in advance.. The return leg was so bad last time I think I'd consider the tunnel when we next go!

No no, restaurant was superb, just thought the self cooking steak was a bit gimmicky! I'll order mine pre cooked next time..

Yeah ive been 1/2 times a year for the past 4 years, always paid £140-250 each. There might have been some event on that week which pushed the price up.

Ah ok, the pre-cooked steaks are good but I enjoy doing it myself. smile

Planning to head over again in April/May, can't wait for winter to come and go!
Possibly yeah. Although that price included food on the ferry..

Absolutely superb trip. Maybe a bit rushed as we only had an evening and one full day at the Ring. I think next time I'd like to head for some of the famous passes aswell

The doom and gloom story's never seem justified to me, yes there are risks and high costs associated with a crash but the majority of incidents are minor impacts where it's only your car that takes a hit, scuffed barriers often don't get charged for. The main worry is not connecting with another car. I've been on 12 tourist days at the ring and never seen any multi car pile ups, only a couple single vehicle accidents and mechanical breakdowns.

Drive within your limits and the nurburgring is the best thing you'll ever do in your car!
Yeah I agree. I've been twice now and there have been quite a few minor accidents, and a couple of major ones..

It's a must see place for any petrol head!
