All,

I have tried and will continue to browse the usual sites, however I reckoned on here may throw up something of interest!

Looking to relocate to Edinburgh from early to mid september and looking for a flat for one or a flat to share in the city centre. Ideally looking to pay no more than £400-£450 in rent and including bills, about £550/600 absolute top end.

Professional guy so no junkie student to worry about.

If anyone knows of anything, then I would be interested to hear!

Thanks.

I always advertise my flat on Gumtree so I take it you've looked there?

If you're looking to get a 1 bed flat in the centre I think you realistically need to budget £500/550 and your bills will be over and above that!
Probably best to find a flat share.
Hi,

Yeah, I am keeping tabs on Gumtree on a daily basis as well as zoopla, roomshare.co.uk and a variety of others. I have no doubt that something will come up, however there are some absolute dives on all of the sites which are best avoided!

Maybe I misread your post, but for how long do you intend to stay?
Also, what area of Edinburgh are you looking for? (i.e. around where are you going to work?)
Lots of places will become available with the end of August when the Fringe is over.

As you undoubtedly noticed by now, Edinburgh is expensive. Given your price range, I recommend you concentrate to find something as a Lodger.
Ideally looking to rent for 6-8 months before purchasing.

Edinburgh is expensive and ideally I am looking for as close to the city centre as practically possible. House or flat share is a definite given the budget I have outlined above. Work is based in the West End not far from Haymarket.

I am aware that the next few weeks will no doubt bring a lot more properties to the marketplace.

Thanks for all advice to date.

I would opt for a bit of a longer commute and look in Drumbrae rather than Pilton. Talking about bad areas, I would seriously avoid Sighthill. But, overall Edinburgh is a very safe place to be.

Given that he is looking at a single bedroom flat or flat share on the budget, the later should open up potentials in pretty much most areas of town. Plus, you never know, you might end up lucky. When we moved over here we found somebody looking for someone to take care of the flat while he is away for 3 months. As he was more interested in someone how isn't trashing the place, we got a really great deal while looking for a place to buy.

I'll keep my ears open.
Good advice ad much appreciated. With the budget I have, a share in the city centre is more than possible. If anyone hears of knows of anything, I would appreciate a nod in the correct direction.

I'd be looking at Bruntsfield area, you'd be able to get a decent flat / house share for your budget and the area is decent too.
I havebeen looking Bruntsfield today and it is certainly in budget and would happily stay here. I have managed to narrow down the areas so it is just a case of waiting for the right flat now!

I stayed in Bruntsfield for a while, great area! Don't rule out areas close to it though, Polwarth is nice, even the Fountainbridge area has been given a new lease of life recently.

Which areas have you narrowed your search down to FordMan?
Ideally I am looking for city centre or Stockbridge West End areas. Would also consider parts of East End.

Having uploaded a profile to Spare Room I have been in contact with a few others in terms of "buddying up" however still trying to find a flat which is reasonable and is in decent condition!
