Hi all, I have a trusty old Skoda Superb I use as a commuting hack/station car that's in need of a timing belt and water pump change.

Looking for recommendations of decent garages in Glasgow that will do a good job - it's a 1.9tdi PD engine so the same as used in Seat/VW/Audis.

Extra brownie points for garages easy to get to from City Centre/Finnieston.

Ta muchly! smile

Thanks chaps, Deutschtek are perfectly located for me so a few good first-hand experiences is good enough for me to give them a call.

I know the main dealers were doing offers, but from what I've read over on Briskoda the main dealer kit has a water pump with plastic impeller which isn't as reliable as the metal impeller'd water pump in the kits the indies seem to prefer.

You may find that the water pump with metal impeller isn't recommended by some indies!
Hmm, is that based on experience/knowledge?

I ask as I've read lots of bad things about the plastic impellor being prone to breaking, but haven't read anything bad about the water pumps with the metal impellor.

Either way I'll take the garage's advice on it, I tend to request the best part rather than the cheapest is used anyway.

Always like to report back after asking a question, so...in true PH fashion I went to the guy nobody mentioned! My preferred choice were Deutschtek but they were very expensive, quoted the same as the main dealer, you lot must be made of money! In fairness they were very friendly and seemed really busy, maybe the thought of a Skoda on their premises was off-putting smile

So, I stumbled upon this chap Colin, knew his stuff, friendly, quick, reasonably priced and handy to get to just off jct 1A of the M74. Deserves a recommendation, small outfit but very clean and tidy and I'd go back.

Called them, was quoted a price a tenner less than the main dealer and over 50% more than all the other independents I called.

As above, job has been done now by Premier VW Audi anyway but thanks for the continued recommendations wink
