What a fking nightmare this is causing.. Stuck behind someone doing 17mph on Queen Street last night as so many police were about.

My car only changes into third gear at 21mph btw redcard

Depends on time of day and street obviously - but yes, pretty much every road runs quicker than 20mph around town aside from a few obvious exceptions.

I got overtaken by a cyclist earlier on The Mound (trying to stick to the 20mph limit) rofl

That's what worries me... People who are scared to run over 20 and it's near impossible to tell where the limit starts and stops.

If they really want to sort our road related casualties it would be better spending at least some of the cash educating pedestrians that it isn't a great idea crossing a side street whilst glued to your phone; the person whom I nearly hit today would have ended up in the ERI no matter what the speed limit!
It's getting more like London - pedestrians just do whatever the hell they want these days.

Highway code or not it's absolutely ridiculous to suggest that pedestrians can walk wherever they want whenever they want and it's up to the driver to sort it. I know that's not what you are suggesting but it's what the law is.

I live in town and I regularly see people just walk across the road on Queen Street without waiting on the lights and cause all sorts of carnage - one of them gets hit and it's the drivers fault !

It's only in the very centre just now around Princes St afaik but due to affect over 80% of the Capital's roads by Feb 2018 if not before. It's worse at weekends when people are driving along at 20mph when the roads are clear by Edinburgh standards. Ridiculous.
Unfortunatley not the case if you have a look on the council website - seems to be in place for most roads within Edinburgh. One they slipped through...
