A group of us are staying in the city centre for one night next week before touring the NC500. But it looks like our hotel has only an underground and I can't find online pointers to anything but multi-storeys nearby. Some of the cars are low with front overhangs and need to be off street, no ramps.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Including whether the out of town park and rides are worth considering.

I've managed pretty rough roads in my own car in the past and got on ok, but twice damaged splitters badly on access ramps in MSCPs, on the descent. Been to Applecross twice, does it get worse than that ?

Perhaps not, if vandalism isn't a risk. We've parked up in the past at basic hotels that share parking with shopping centres, cinemas and McDonalds and the like and have had no trouble to date. Caterham / F458 / Exige would be the more obvious stuff, might be a Murci along also. Rest is relatively Q car.

Have paid in advance and it's non refundable but given the alternative is also Novotel maybe I'll give them a ring and see.

Castle NCP offers 'premium' spots next to the entrance which I'm hoping means on the same level. We've booked a couple of cars in there and I'll give them a call tomorrow to check.

We weren't really going to be on the move before 08:30 so used that NCP on Castle Terrace. It worked out great, you could park any kind of car in there. Tired this morning with half a day to go still. Scotland is a pretty big place. Once again we got really lucky with the weather this weekend.

Yes, or £25 depending on whether you book online. Novotel were sending people there at £12.50 because their car park was full. Given the gentle ramps, there is no advantage to booking premium. Hindsight is great.
