Morning all,

many of you will have seen my 390 for sale a little while back...I had lots of enquiries but I was always too far away (Guernsey) or there was concern over the VAT. Does anyone know how I can get a confirmed answer on the VAT issue (Swansea dont seem to want to commit)? Also, if I were to include VAT and delivery to the south in the price, would it make the difference do you think?.... The price would have to increase but I wondered if it would help. Opinions?

Thanks guys.. That number was a winner.. Perhaps if I lend it to a friend in the UK so it would be available to view then, might belp.

Here is where things get confusing... Guernsey is outside the EU so even if the VAT has been paid once, if the car has changed hands whilst outside the EU, VAT is repayable on re-entry. VAT is 20% as we know, but there is a special 5% rate for classics and collectables, they tell me however that classics have to be over 30 years old, and collectables doesn't apply to cars, regardless of production numbers, surviving examples etc. so full tax is payable on the price paid for the car.

Looks like i'll be out of pocket either way. why do they hate tax dodgers over there but insist on encouraging people to do it with charging double etc!
