My Stater (that I've been trying to source a replacement for quite a while) finally gave up the ghost at the weekend.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might get a replacement ASAP?

I'm already making some calls, but thoguht I'd post here too...

The starter has a ford part Number V85BB 11000 AB, which my local ford dealer is also equivalent to both 1652370 and 1008842 in the ford part catalog (I also have a list of other part no's from bosch etc) but they are no longer availiable from the factory (no suprise), the starter is the same as was used on things like the Serria 4x4's (XR4x4 etc) in the mid 1980's, I've also poseted in the Ford forum in case any of those guys can help me out.

If anyone can help I'll be grateful as I'm supposed to be at Silverstione for the classic this weekend. I'd be happy to end up with 2 rather than none, as at least it stops the problem occuring again when the new one eventually fails?

Thanks in Advance

Norman

Hi Norman...What bolt pattern is yours..2 or 3?...
3 as per link on the post following yours....

They have it in stock so have ordered in the hope its the right one.

I have a couple of the 2 hole ones but they don't fit.

I'm still going to see if I can find another to be on the safe side if you have one Zig.

I don't know if its the same as the S or not as it should be the same as the Capri in theory but it isn't...

Hi Norman...Just wondering why yours has a 3 bolt pattern...Have you changed the bell housing for an alloy one?...The MT75 gearbox houses a 3 bolt pattern starter but apparently the bodies are different sizes so it might be a better option to get yours refurbed..Ziga
The original car I had, had the 2 hole type starter (and I have a couple of those spare here) but the "new" (but older) car had a 5 speed transmission, which I think is what has made the difference.

Hopefully the one I have ordered will fit.

Thanks for all the help guys New Starter is fitted and working well.

Took the car for a long run (in nearly 30C heat) and all was well.

Hopefully that's the last big niggle sorted.

Thanks again for the help.

Car will be at Silverstone Classic this Sunday.
