Strange Wedge?

A friend of mine was at a classic car show last weekend in Ripon North Yorkshire
and photographed the following pics of a Wedge for me

It seems to be a bit more of a hybrid than usual?





Says 2.8 on the back but has vented bonnet, 400SE wheels and 400 Dash?

Anything else?

Anyone know it?

I have lightened the pics now and that makes them a bit clearer

I can see the american style bumpers now





It looks rather a nice example
