Hi Peeps...As you may or may not know i have the 3-5th of July 2015 pencilled in for next year...It has been brought to my attention that the Griffgrowl couldn't secure a date so a combined event may be a possibility..Above all i think it could be a right laugh..At the moment I'm talking with a rep from the Ricoh Arena and will be discussing the options shortly..I will know before next month..We could even combine it at the arena although I'm happy to go with EC again..Can i have your thoughts please...Cheers...Ziga

PS: If we do have a combined event then there will be a "Tug of war" challenge and maybe a few more fun things to see who is No.1...Of course its all in the best possible taste....

Thanks for the positive response...They are talking about not having it next year due to lack of places to hold it as EC can't give them anything until sept!..eek..And EC does tick all the boxes..So i think helping them out would be a good thing...There might be an issue with room availability but I'm going to speak to EC tomorrow and see what they can do.

I guess if all else fails then there is accommodation locally..Or theres sofa beds by the bar...Or even roomshare..But i must point out that i will only share with the opposite sex so wives and G-Friends are most welcome..smile

Unless they snore...Or fart...Or snore and fart....wobble

Its really rather simple;

Before/during/after the BBQ we'll have a 'who can drink the most' contest, after which, say 4ish, we'll stagger out for the tug-of war (by then technically half of the night is past anyway...)beer

However wins gets a room, anybody else...don't ! furious

I personally think that is a briljant idea, no ? biggrin
Sounds good to me mate....

"Gredge" is a mixture of a Wedge with a 5.0ltr HC Griff engine...That goes like a scolded cat...I know of one..And know it very well...In fact here we are together...

Actually the irony is in this pic from Wedge to Gredge...smile

Hi mate...I was thinking of getting a P.A system out in the car park for next year so that could be a sneaky option....yikes

I wouldn't worry too much I'm hoping to have finished my wedge in time, so at the very least you'll have competition for quietest wedge biggrin
Im sure i could come up with an award for it.....scratchchin..."The Whispering Wedge award".....Maybe...

Hi Keith...At this moment in time they cannot provide any more rooms..If there are any cancellations then i have first dibs..Im even looking into the possibility of people being allowed to camp if they want to..I will also have to sign the contract soon or there is a chance we could lose the date we have been given...Cheers..Ziga

Rooms still available on their standard terms at the Chase for the weekend in question (have just booked).
Went down this route rather than booking via the 'event' because

A) I own a Griff not a Wedge and it seems only fair you lads get the first go at whatever phenomenal discount Mark has negotiated wink

B) Not by any means certain I will actually be attending (can't really plan this far ahead due to work) Standard terms mean I can cancel anytime up to the day itself.

Obviously I don't intend to cancel and if I do I'll let people know via the forum there may be late availability.
Likewise, if I can commit a bit further ahead of time and we're struggling to fill the rooms that have been reserved (seems very unlikely but you never know) then I'd be happy to transfer my booking across.

My OH can't believe I'm this organised hehe
Hi mate..Maybe you have hit on something there...The rooms i have been allocated are as is and won't change unless we don't fill them by the deadline...As for rates..Well lets just say some more negotiating is in order..

I guess the only way to see is if people that want to have a joint venture book for that weekend and then we can change the event name on the day....Simples...idea

Hi Keith...Im speaking with them on Thursday so hopefully after this bookings will become easier..Sometimes the girls on the desk are like a tit in a trance...(As lovely as they are)..This year when i went to pay for my room on checking out they tried charging me £450 for the Saturday night meal and another £150 for a couple of rooms..Everything worked out in the end though...smile

Hi Steve...The fest is booked for the 3-5th July 2015...Hopefully something will give in the way of rooms so that the Griff crowd can join us..They are welcome to anyway but it would be nice to have a joint event..

Rooms can be booked for the fest as of next week...I will put the day up as i forgot to sign all of the contract on Friday...DER..... ...Cheers...Ziga

Hi Keith...As far as I'm aware up to date they still cannot release any more rooms...However the option for booking outside the event is available but unfortunately no discounted rates will apply...If the government suddenly ban the use of push bikes then there will be loads of rooms available..Apparently there is a cycle rally the same weekend..Should be fun...I know a good proportion of cycle users don't like cars ! ...I bet they have never seen a push bike on a rolling road before...laugh

I will post up a separate thread but essentially people who intend coming will be asked to email me rather than having a "Who's coming" post..This is to avoid advertising the fact that people are away from their homes for a weekend..Some are not comfortable with this.

Also due to the limited amount of rooms available there are some minor details that will be applied to bookings...I will be contacting all those who attended this year...Cheers...Ziga

All booked for Fri/Sat. I mentioned BBWF event and have been quoted £88.00 per night for a double room.

Tony. TCB.
Hi Tony...Did you speak to Nicola Moseley?...I thought the rate was £78 per night for a double occupancy for 2 nights..
This is how its actually written on the contract that i signed.

Standard Double/ Twin Bedroom-£68prpn Single Occupancy (2 night stay). £78prpn Double occupancy (2 night stay), £78prpn Single occupancy (1 night stay), £88prpn Double occupancy (1 night stay).

So you should only be paying £78prpn?...I will call her again but she only is there on Thursday, Friday and Saturday put o the afternoon...Cheers...Ziga

Hi Tony...Its been made aware to the desk staff but the best option is to call the chase and go to option 1 & then option 2 but ask to speak to Nicola Moseley..As said she only works Thursday, Friday and Saturday so its best to do it then...Cheers...Ziga

Its a right pain in the wotsits really as we only have half the rooms that we were allocated last year...I will be bringing up the fact that people are having problems booking when i speak to them on Thursday...Be careful booking outside the event as you might not have inclusive breakfast as well as paying more for the room...Ziga

I just booked on the normal rate.
I figured that by the time I remembered to ring that woman on a friday I would miss out anyway!
Well there are 10 rooms for the Friday night and 20 for the Saturday...The staff on the front desk always seem confused when people ring up to book under the "Wedgefest"...Thats why its best to speak to her as she is the events manager.

I will find out WTF is going on...Ziga
