After a 7 year absence I've dipped my toe in the TVR pool again. After a long disappointing search, I finally found a car with a good chassis, strong compression engine and nice clean intact interior. So today I splashed my cash and got me a 1986 280i S2 with 21,600 miles. Complete with working a/c.....yes I know, why bother but hey it is a federal car. So here's a couple of pics taken outside the bank in Phoenix AZ just after I wrote the check.

And here it is in my semi (lorry) trailer for the journey home - 1250 miles.

So two jobs to do......left front caliper is hanging up, so rebuild or replace with a re-man one. Plus one cylinder is over fueling. I did a compression check prior to purchase and all were 145 +\- 3%. The plug is fouling. I need to learn the Bosch system but I suspect it's the injector. Anyone have ideas on how to trouble shoot.

Looking foward to learning and sharing.

Cheers, Gavin.

LOL JumboBeef,

Grady, I'm actually in Rapid City SD and I purchased the car in Phoenix. So it's going to get s bit of a climate shock. The previous owner has be running a 35 coolant to 65 water mix, so I've already had to drain the system and make it a 50/50 ratio to adjust for the temperature swings. Oh what fun bleeding/burping the 280 cooling system is.

I figured the issue with the injector was limited to just the one as all the others were fine. Nice even color on the other 5 plugs. I'll run some injector cleaner through iit and see if that helps if not I'll pull it and bench clean it.

Only driven a few miles in it but it's such fun to drive. I'm so much more relaxed in it than I was in my Lotus Esprit.

Happy days ahead me hopessmile

Cheers all.

Gavin.

Yeah I know. Red is not my favorite color but with these cars you buy on condition rather than aesthetics.
