Hi folks, im trying to get my poor wedge back on the road for the summer. I'm halfway through a complete rewire and it's going well except for one wee snag. I'm using the black loom wiring diagram from the bible and it has a safety switch / air sensor that I can't find. I'm assuming it should be somewhere on my air flapper to cut the fuel supply if the engine stalls. I've pulled out my fuel distributor and gone over it a half dozen times trying to find anywhere an electrical connector might attach but there's nothing.
Now I know there was a new engine put in this car and I've no idea what it came out of, is it possible that it came from a car that uses a different safety system or did all Bosch k systems use the same switch?
Any thoughts?

As I recall, my Tasmin had such a connector, it was on the airbox.
You could just stick a link in it for test purposes whistle
It looks like that's what a previous owner did smile

The green plug was dangling off the loom but there's nowhere to connect it smile
I guess I'll just leave it out. As its there in case of a leaking fuel pipe added to the fact I found a small crack in one of them today maybe it's time to replace them. It was on my list anyway, it looks as though the fuel lines from the distributor were grafted on to wider lines going to the injectors. Are these fuel lines a standard size?

I remember trying to sort this in the distant past The green plug was disconnected as it wouldn't start otherwise. The bluish coloured bit at lower centre is the socket.
Just had another look, definitely nothing there. By the sounds of it I might be better off without smile

Nice one Zig! I'll have a look under the bonnet tomorrow and see what needs replacing.

From what I recall, the later version of the 2.8 injection system used a module that sampled the ignition pulses and used that info to control the fuel pump - in much the same way that the V8's injection won't inject if the ignition's not working properly.
In the bible there's also mention of a purple / cream special relay but I've neither of those. Any idea what the module looks like? If I had a wiring diagram for an alternative I'd retro fit it. I imagine it would take longer to start the engine if the fuel pump didn't run until the coil was firing. At the moment the pump just starts up when the ignition is in the first position.

Always thought an otter switch was to do with a cooling fan but could be wrong rolleyes .I have an old wiring loom on my 280i which has that green plug, plus all associated fuses etc.Prob not going to use them if you need something stephen.
Thanks Sean, I've most of the new wiring in now and I'm replacing absolutely everything I can with new parts but if I can't source anything I'll give you a shout. When I get it back on the road we'll have to meet up for a burn smile
One thing you might be able to help me with if you have an old loom, I'm a bit stumped with the wiring to the motorcraft module. According to the wiring diagram in the bible the red wire goes to the starter solenoid but every other wiring diagram I can find on the web white one does. Do you know where your white or red wire go?
