For anyone interested http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121974563453?_trksid=p20...

I actually went and had a good look at this car about a year ago, I glady walked because I couldn't justify the price when for 250 quid more I ended up with a V8. Chassis appeared solid - not sure about it being galvanised though. Car is a bit battle scarred up front so don't expect good paintwork or interior for that matter. Would be a nice project for someone i'm sure, and it really needs to stay as a 200, cant be many left now!

I really don't understand what's going on in terms of Wedge value. Where are all the Wedge preservation enthusiasts? This car is rarer than the SEAC. It's rarer than any SE including the 450, yet there is no interest or takers. It looks in reasonable condition for its year and is running. So what is it then that makes a Wedge worth more? It must be the extra cylinders and power. So, people must be after it's driving and performance qualities rather than rarity. But wait a minute. Performance and power means less economy, higher running costs and poorer reliability. How many 200's are there on the road? When was the last time you saw one? If you ask me, this car should be fetching double the price of a SEAC, and if an avrage SEAC fetches 25k, this should be around 50k. You know what? I think it's a bargain if there ever was one. 2.5k??? It's been given away. I am seriously condidering a punt myself.

Its just demand! I don't understand why a TR7 V8 is worth so much compared to a V8 wedge. I cant ever see this car being worth double a SEAC, I know which one I'd have even if both were mint and priced at 25K. At the end of the day a SEAC is far more car for the money really, it has the latest wedge design from the factory, more expensive components in the engine, body composite, wheels, brakes all of it. So from a bottom cost point of view the car is worth more. Despite bashing it I'd love this car, and to be honest if I had the money I'd be buying it, sorting out the interior and using it everyday. As always though, the time is never right! When I do have funds though I will be looking for one. You also need to take into consideration what that car is being bought for. I don't use my 350i everyday because its a toy, and too expensive for me to run everyday. but the thought of a 200 would be viable. For some this may take the charm away, having something to use less frequently makes it more special to some. Go and see the car! Its clearly had the roof done since I saw it as it was a tatty wreck. Its a sound runner, but really its a full resto. the paint up front is more than to be desired. smile

please please please could you all stop talking the value of this , my previous wedge , up. I have just this morning emailed the seller....will let y'all know if the 4pot wedge is coming home to se London.
Out of interest did you sell it about this time last year to dealer near Aylesbury? I went to look at it when he had it. I remember it came up on ebay, at which time i was more interested in an élan turbo for some reason, missed out on the élan and by that time didn't have enough time to look at this 200. Few weeks went and then it was back up with the dealer. V8 swayed me in the end, but now I really want the underdog hahaha. Hope you manage to buy it back!

I have to say, when I looked at it last year I classed it as a full restoration - but a very good basis for one. the interior is absolutely shot and the seats were from a chimera and not even bolted down (just wedged wink with wooden blocks).
you'll notice the evolution of the ebay listings has started to add new pictures of the damage to the bodywork/paint ( not really disclosed in the description) and there is literally one picture of the interior - wouldn't be surprised if buyers turned up and found it a lot worse than it is. Its more of a project - but a running one, with 12 months MOT.
