Hello,

I'm Hans from Holland, a keen (oldtimer-) car enthousiast. I do have a prototype MG with a V8 engine but recently developped (again) my preference for TVR. In the past I nearly bought a Griffith 200 but then went for the MG. Back than I thought the wedges to be ugly (but good specs). Now I appriciate the lines, speacially series 1. That with still good specs and the sound makes me fancy the Tasmin 280i FHC (or 350). On forehand I became member of TVR club Holland.

Now a blue FHC has come up for sale in England (Mountain Ash, Wales I think?) visible on preloved.co.uk, only one picture and little info. I mailed for info but got no response so today I called. link;
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/detail/motors/...

The man is 76 years old and knees are reason for sale, he had the car for two years. There is full service done and only thing is that sunroof has been sealed due to leaking. He will have gaskets changed next Tuesday. On questions about chassis he said everything is in good original condition. He was very nice, warning me about it's power but I responded that my MG is also reasonably powerfull (though I would love much more power). He said that I could come only after gasket change and was amazed that I would eventually come all the way from Holland and wanted to drive back (I asume thats no problem for the discribed state). I asked for more pictures, but think that's to difficult (not a picture man myself).

So my question on this forum, witch I'm reading for some months now, is if anyone knows the car and/or something about it's condition? I think 5000 is fair price, do you agree?

Thanks in advance, cheers, Hans.

Thanks guys,

Really helping, I actually e-mailed the old advertisment, got no reply, than look at dealers site and cars was gone, assumed car was sold. Found out car was auctioned off Barons dec. 2014, estimate 3000-4000, made 2800.

If someone could go watch, please, I'll even pay petrol cost within reason of course.

On old foto's think interiour looks begging for good clean, says nothing about chassis and rest mechanical. O yes, the man said all electrics work, windows and even the clock, the clock was mentioned twice like that was special for these cars.

Hi,

So far, thanks guys, I really like the V8, but already have one. Want to try 6 cylinder and A fiends of mine is a famous (ford) race mechanic, speacialist of engineer ans breakes. Spoke to him today, advise, first drive A bit and than we'll talk, says original will be fun enough, but he says he can tune it up till 300 if I want.

I want good useable power, brute sound but foremost roadholding for those winding mountainroads (Not those in Holland of course).

Anyone willing to go have A look? Any other ideas? No one looked at it in the past?

Cheers.

Tried to reach the red one, mailed twice, no responce yet, so maild the adverter .

Keeping eye on project, but big investment, with this transport to Holland and al kind of little cost witch Will add up quick.

Red one probably driveble. Smaller investment.

Good idea about wedgefest. Plan was to visit after the visit to the Tasmin. The man is supposed to be the uncle of the adverter. By mail I asked for phone number but hè declined stating he is hard hearing. I asked if he could get it MOT'd and wheter I could drive it to Holland. Only answer I get is that he insists on visiting the car.

Does not sound like a scam, but more like old man selling, but you never know. I used to be fraud inspector so won't be fooled quick.

I'll ask about driving to Westfest, otherwise come by public transport. Are there still rooms?

Won't be able to come to Breda the 26th (my birthplace).

I will get plane to London the 8th, arrive 7.20, so can use tube or bus with ample of time, suggestions? Can help you with if you want. (more hands make light work).

Leave again sunday evening, so pleased lift fridaymorning, room 8 and 9, book and shirt/cap big size, love BBQ and good beer, cider if no strong beers. Let's have fun?

Probably after the meet go to tasmin on sunday, after seeing all the wedjes I have best impression what's around and best for me, maybe lift direction of Wales?

Think you all so far.

The blue one has been at 2 recent shows that I have been to. I didn't spend a great deal of time looking at it. It is interesting in that it is a very early car and very original. I do remember it has a moon type sun roof that has been poorly sealed with messy silicone. I guess it is only worth £5k if you really want one of the first cars. Personally I would have thought it is over priced. It would need some work to bring it up to a good standard.
Yes I think overpriced too, around 3500 seems to me fair price. Decided to go first to bbwf and decide after or during the event.

The red e-bay seller in Birmingham had a viewer he was 'just as old as me' so probably to old to buy. Today heard he doesn't buy. Now he reserves it for me. Asiel if I could come either the 8 or 10th around 13? Asked man (with car) of coming to feest, not a word about that, think maybe man to old? Would like co viewer, or possibly drive to topcats? Keep you posted.
