Noisy Headlight Motor

Just fitted my new headlight motor and boy is noisy when going up. I noticed there is a locking nut with a crew head on the top of the motor, was wondering if I slackened off the screw a couple of turns whether it would reduce any tension? The other side of course is perfect on the up and down

Will try disconnecting the linkage first and see the if the motor is ok otherwise it's going straight back!
