Hi Peeps

The engine has developed a ticking noise which sounds like a tappet ...I just hope its not cam related...Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks chaps...Getting a bit worried as I have been watching a lot of videos that are almost identical to mine and all of them were a slipped liner...Especially as the noise is the same speed as the pistons...It is more noticeable when up to temp and does start running a bit lumpy.

It is also quite common on the older disco engines..Numbers 5 & 7 on the left bank and 4 & 6 on the right are the main culprits...Mine does sound like 4 or 6....Unfortunately if this is the case then its bye bye TVR journey....frown

Just been advised that its normally the 3.9 upwards...Im hoping its a loose spark plug...Could I be that lucky????...Ill have a look when the cover thaws out, I could take it off and sit it next to it and people would think I have another one...smile

What a bloody result...No.6 plug was leaking as it wasn't tight enough...The socket that I have is very tight in there and wasn't getting a good fit on it...Good job I kept the old cheap plug spanner.

I think next time I order the iridium plugs I will order the smaller socket type...Didn't realise there were two different sizes...

Happy days are here again....beer
