Black Volvo estate

Hi,
Does anybody know of a black older boxy style Volvo estate (540 or 740 maybe?) around the Bridgend area? Seen it around a couple of times previously and again today. It's a bit of a sleeper - looks fairly standard/plain, but when the driver boots it it shoots off with quite a turbo/exhaust roar.
I think he was either trying to race a supped up golf as he was right behind it, or noticed I was driving the monaro and booted it past (or both
).
Curious to know what the setup is.
