Just discovered that my Skoda has a faulty DPF pressure sensor.

Happy to change it myself (£50 online and looks like a 15 minute job - 1 bolt, 2 pipes and located just under the bonnet) but it needs a VCDS reset of the pressure sensor prior to starting so I either need to find a local garage that can do the whole job or someone with access to the software to do the reset for me immediately after I change it.

I rang the local Skoda Dealer who want £80+VAT to put it on the diagnostics before they start to confirm what I already (think I) know.

Alternatively if its viable I'd sooner spend the £80.00 towards the cable and software to do the reset myself but could do with some guidance from someone who knows more about VCDS and whether its capable of the rest I need to do.

All help much appreciated

I did have a local chap from the Briskoda forum come over a couple of weeks ago and run VCDS on the car which is how I know its the oressure sensor at fault but I now can't get hold of him.

Thanks chaps, I'll do some phoning around in the morning.

I spoke to NG Motors this afternoon - seem like good peeps but they don't have the software to do the necessary.

Much appreciated.

I pretty much read what you've posted.

I've received the sensor and was waiting for another Briskodian (David8) to come back to me to arrange to come and do the reset before I actually fit it.

I'll PM you with my location and if you're passing before David8 gets in touch (as it tends to be a weeks or so before he responds) I'd be grateful as I'm trying to set up a trip to Cheshire late next week and I'd hoped to have the sensor changed before then.

Big, big THANK YOU to msremmert for his help with resolving this.

I was having problems with the EML coming on intermittently and David8 from the Briskoda forum kindly came and performed a VCDS diagnostic which pointed to an "implausible signal" from the DPF pressure sensor.

I ordered a sensor (£54.00 inc VAT delivered from Audi Parts Direct in Cardiff) and fitted it and msremmert came over and performed the necessary reset as per the quoted post above. It all went as per the instructions given on the Briskoda form.
The following morning I went for a 30 mile run but it didn't seem to get the car to regen (I suspected it hadn't been able to regen for several months as I'd gone from doing 30K miles a year to doing 1500 miles of short runs in the last 6 months).
The following day I did a 400 mile round trip and the DPF light came on once in each direction.
The fuel economy on the car's computer was showing 52.9mpg (cruise con @ 74mph) but the actual consumption calculated was 31MPG (brim to brim calculation). scratchchin
I can only surmise that the car was pouring fuel into the DPF to burn off several months of build up but that consumption is not recorded as used by the engine therefore the fuel gauge and range drop in accordance with total fuel used but the MPG is only calculated based upon fuel injected into the cylinders and not into the DPF.
The following day the borrowed VCDS revealed a total soot mass of 3.22g so it appears the regen was successful. woohoo

Although I've worked on cars for over 30 years I'm a bit of newbie to the techie stuff but there are some really helpful people out there to whom I am extremely grateful.

Incidentally, the local Skoda dealer wanted £96.00 inc VAT just to hook up the car and read the codes.
