Norfolk to London on a Sunday afternoon

We're off to the North Norfolk coast this weekend, near Holt, with the baby and his grandparents in a rented cottage.

Ideally we'll stay for Sunday lunch and then load up the car and head back towards London at 2/3ish so we're back in Battersea in good time for his bedtime at 7pm.

Is this a recipe for traffic disaster? Any particular trouble spots to avoid at those times? Should we leave it til the evening and let him sleep in the car?

Apologies, but I don't know the area at all, nor the roads between here and there. Any words of wisdom would be gratefully received.

The A505 / A1 suggestion looks very appealing - not least because it misses the worst of the A406 and/or schlepping through the City.
