RAF Marham Track Day - 28/29 May 2016
Discussion
Last year, we were able to get the RAF Marham track day weekends back on the calendar, with great success and much to the pleasure of all who came. After a bit of toing and froing to negotiate dates and fit around the other things that go on at Marham, have now got the dates confirmed for the next Track Day weekend at RAF Marham of 28 and 29 May 2016.
The weekend will follow the usual popular format, with an open pit lane, a track layout with challenges and something for everyone, a great friendly atmosphere, and the hallmark of being excellent value for money while raising money for RAF and local charities.
I expect that the website will be up and running to take bookings soon, and the team will post here when it is. While we hope to be able to run another one later in the year, this one is confirmed and I hope you can make it - please spread the word, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon in May.
Oh, and one final thing, as it is RAF Marham's 100th anniversary this year, we are aiming to reflect that in various ways!

Cockity cockity cock..... Bloody Holiday is booked for that week before....
Does that mean you'll be driving round the track with a roof box / caravan in tow, very Top Gear-esque??Cockity cockity cock..... Bloody Holiday is booked for that week before....

On stone chips, I would rather have people aware of the issue than finding out the hard way, so thanks for raising it - and in response.....
Unsurprisingly, the stone chips arise pretty simply from people following up the ar*e of something else far too close and for far too long, whether that is down the straights and/or through the corners - it’s the only conceivable way that a front end can get pebble dashed.
There are some cars I have seen over 10 years of the events which, frankly, looked like the front end had been shot blasted - TVRs seemed to suffer in particular....but, equally, cars at the same events, having been driven with the issue in mind, have had just as much cornering fun and high speed running without a chip in sight.
The track is very wide to allow lateral separation on straights (which is the only place to overtake) and the numbers/spacing of cars longtitudinally around the track allows any driver (provided they keep the "red mist" at bay) to keep plenty of free space all around the car - yes, you might have to back off for a corner occasionally in a lap to keep distance from another, but that is little compromise with 8 hours of track time available - and, for the latter half of the afternoon session, the track has very few cars out.... Vinyl film is one way which can also help, but the best way is to stay clear of other cars as indicated above - that’s about the best advice I can give.

Not sure how the organisers would view it with the precautions against Foreign Object Damage, but to be extra cautious you could always just buy a roll of 2" wide masking tape and put a layer of tape over the vulnerable areas of the front of the car. Easy to put on/remove and only costs a few quid.
Not really an issue, as we have to do a complete FOD check/sweep at the end of the event.Mark

A couple of questions for the trackday team:
How are numbers this time?
Is it possible to add an extra driver to my booking?
Thanks.
P.S. I've sent a message with additional details of a support vehicle.
Numbers are sufficient on both days to make the event viable for us to run - similar to last time at just above 40 each day so far - although as it's all for charity of course I'd like more, so everybody please encourage mates or through other forums! How are numbers this time?

You should still be able to add an extra driver and details of support vehicle - PM me if you haven't had a reply within a day or two.
