Pub recommendation near Harwich
Discussion
Wow guys, thanks very much, I think I'm spoilt for choice.
I think I'll wait and see what time we're able to leave home, and then depending on weather may take a run through the countryside of Suffolk/Essex (?) and take in one of the country pubs mentioned, or if we don't have time/weather we'll press on into Harwich, which looks like it offers an interesting little walk. I think both the Pier and the Alma Arms looks interesting.
Thanks for tips, it's what this site is best at imo.

Long Melford, Lavenham, Hadleigh, Kersey, Dedham, Flatford - all worth seeing if you have time to get off the dual carriageways.
Thanks, I had pretty much come up with that route, but thanks all same. Turns out the Crown in Stoke-by-Nayland is owned by the brother of someone I know.
However we're setting off well early, weather forecast isn't great, we stopping at a National Trust Bury st Edmunds and will make s decision then, but now I have some proper information to go on. Thanks for all the help chaps.
