Thanks guys for all the recommendations, my car is an 'M' model, the e46. I have the inspection two coming up later in the year and definitly want a quality job on the car. It could well be my local will be fine but I like to have more than just one card in the wallet.
Thanks again I will have a look at those garages.

Thanks again, taken my car into warne for some seals to be replaced. They are only a mile down the road for me nd thier customer car park was full of 'nearly new' cars, always a good sign. Inspection 2 will be due come late Autunm, they gave me. verbal estimate for the job, I knew the big service would be costly so no shock there. I was encouraged when told that the valve shims need checking at this service and bring the car in day before job booked in so a cold engine could be worked on

I used Warne for an inspection II on my E46 M3. You'll be just fine.
Thanks for that, they have carried out an oil service and a couple of small jobs, they seem professional and charges reasonable, in view it's. BMW!!They did tell me that inspection2 will include the valve gaps check. I assume the car will be with them for. couple of days.

How did it turn out? If they haven't had it in yet, best bet is to drop it off at the end of one day, and if they're not too busy, they should be finished by the end of the next. They did tell me that inspection2 will include the valve gaps check. Just had my wife's Mini back to Warne on Friday for diagnosis of a misfire. As I suspected, two ignition coils were bad. They did the diagnosis and replacement in an hour. 100 quid + VAT, which isn't too bad considering the parts were 58 quid.
Barely used the car since my purchase last October, done about 400 miles.

That's a fair enough price.
Weather's getting better. Get that thing out on the road.... or even better -- the track!
Last track day I drove must be 25 years back, I know it's shameful. Memorable day out at Snetterton for all the right reasons and hugely enjoyable. However, my car then, TVR 400se, was never the same again, everything seemed to shake loose!Weather's getting better. Get that thing out on the road.... or even better -- the track!
The next track day, again Snetterton, was on my sons race bike, a full on 1000cc fire breather complete ready for BSB grid.
I was so slow that the slicks and brakes cooled down to the extent that I was hopeless. Great experience though which taught me just how high the skill level is to get these things around a race track.
