Dear all,
It's that time of year again and it's time to talk about the next Track Day
We at RAF Marham are holding the next Charity Track Weekend on the 9th and 10th of April. You and all of your members are invited to attend our event.
We on the track day team have listen very carefully to all of your suggestions over the years and we are pleased to announce a number of improvements to our event.
The first change is the new Marham Track Days Website. This website will have all the usual facilities for booking and paying (PayPal) for entry. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CHEQUES ANYMORE. The website will also contain all driving information, maps, photos of past events and FAQs. No need for moderators to collect details anymore. We will take all the info we need from our website.
Once a member has entered their details and payment they will have access to a secure area within the site which will give details of timings, maps, FAQs and driver rules etc etc.
The Second change is to the format of the day. For the first time in our 6 year history we will be changing the track direction half way through the day (lunch break). This means that you get 2 TRACKS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!! This should help out with tyre, suspension and break wear too
Prices are unchanged for 2011 at £60 per car and first driver. £10 for each additional person MAX OF 4 People in any vehicle. If you book the whole weekend your passengers come free on the second day
E.g. Car + Driver = £60
+3 passengers = Total = £90 for one day
If coming for two days
Car + Driver = £120
+3 passengers = Total = £150 for the whole weekend saving £30
We have 180 car places per day, 360 places in total.
Please post this on to your forum and ask everyone to STANDBY for the website to go live which should be towards the end of next week and to get their cars ready for the 9th/10th April I will let you know as soon as we have the site up and running.
We can't take any bookings until then and won't take any details over the phone or by email. Website entries/payment only.
Lets see if we can get the total up to £200,000 this year
Thank you again
George
So there you go - looks like a whole heap easier for me It's that time of year again and it's time to talk about the next Track Day

Hooray! I’ve been planning some car movements in my fleet, but wanted to make sure I hang onto the Camry Sport long enough to do this again. Even better, the date pretty much coincides with my birthday so this’ll be a fantastic present to myself.
Good callSpottedlaurel said:
Ian, you mentioned you’re doing Sunday with the RR people, probably what suits me best too, but don’t they normally do the Saturday? Makes no difference, just want to plan for the right day.
Sunday seems to be the way they are going - we've done both Saturdays and Sundays in the past - Sat tends to be quieter so it can be better - gut feel with the next one is it's going to fill up fast on both days and with a cap on the total numbers for each day it doesn't matter what day - just matters that you book early and if you want to see the majority of the RR attendees Sunday would be goodSpottedlaurel said:
Time to start acquiring more wheels and/or part-worn tyres now – the Camry’s relentless understeer finished my 17’s off last year. Perhaps I need to experiment with some lift-off oversteer?...
[joke]perhaps I should do Sat then [/joke]Go out with Rob Granger - he'll demonstrate that saturnuranus said:
Didn't they alter the layout slightly to remove that bit? A very hairy bit of cornering that was!
It's been back in the track on most days - they took it out once when the surface was breaking up - but only out for one eventIt's a great bit of track when also on a corner - slip grip slip grip just soo much fun

Cool I never knew that..............rtv said:
Sadly no rob, as some owners wouldn't want their details publishing on a public forum.
Can I point you in the direction of a previous Marham thread......http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I think if you are carefull with the data you put up you will have no complaints - no-one has ever had a problem with the brief data I've posted on here in porevious threads and it will save a lot of confusion
Only problem is really should have asked for a forum reference, ABS, PH, RR etc as it's gonna get very confusing - especially as I've always been ABS forum registered but used to co-ordinate all three forums
If you added a forum reference then you could mail the co-ordinators with updates by forum groups so it could be posted in the various relevant forums
Loving this new format - makes life soo chuffing easy for me - in fact forum co-ordinator role is totally redundant

Ian.
I understand where you are coming from mate, but as you have said it would be impossible to do it this time as we neglected to collect forum data in the registration process.
I will make sure this is added to the registration process in the future to allow you to see who is going from PH/ABS/R-R etc.

Thanks for that - meantime I'll do it the old school approach on the other forums - post up if you are going and post up when you have paid and are in

The new system seems to be working fairly well, we have had a few issues, but nothing too dramatic. It also makes your life so much easier not having to run a 3 line whip collecting cash from all over the place!
I'm happy - if we can sort out the reporting/forum participant list niggles and save all the "am I booked in questions" going direct to you (unless you want to keep it that way?) it'll be a great systemrtv said:
Just out of interest, since the site went live on Friday morning, over £5,500 has been paid so far!
Excellent news rtv said:
We at Marham thank you all for your continued support of these event, quite simple, you make them what they are! We look forward to welcoming you in 5 weeks time!
After a disasterous track day in France last weekend I'm looking forward to it - need to fix the car first mind!!rtv said:
I don't mind running checks for members, that's fine. But there will be a delay in my reply as I'm not welded to the computer all day!
In the future we will hopefully add a forum allegiance box to the registration process, then kick out a weekly email to the forum co-ordinators to update them of who's registered/paid etc, and you can in turn update your threads.
Might be an idea to do that anyway as I'm sure the forum co-ordinators have a good understanding of who is from their groups??In the future we will hopefully add a forum allegiance box to the registration process, then kick out a weekly email to the forum co-ordinators to update them of who's registered/paid etc, and you can in turn update your threads.

Hope the car damage isn't too serious! Wouldn't be Marham without a Monza!!
It eventually drove again - but it was a bodge and a half and I was surprised it actually made it onto the trailer. What was more annoying was that the changes (non crash diet losing nearly 150 kgs) made over winter have seriously made a difference in the car - it's a heck of a lot quicker getting up to speed
Gives me an excuse to change over to a bias pedal box and master cylinders (sourced from 2woody years ago) - means I can junk the ABS and all the rubbish that goes with it and save a load more weight.
