Does anyone else agree that the layout of this roundabout is a bit shoddy. If you come off at Junction 2 travelling anticlockwise, and want to go onto the A2 the road markings place you in the outer right lane. However, the vast majority of people seem to stay in the middle lane, but don't move across to the left just past the turn-off to Dartford. This puts those of us who have placed ourselves correctly having to merge in unnecessarily.
Anyone know what I'm talking about!?

Just been round this again today. It should work fine, if the people in the middle lane went off up the A225 as they are supposed to instead, instead they carry on round to the right and mostly stay in the right lane of the two that go off down to the a2 causing those in the correct lane to be left high and dry in the M25 lane and have to merge in or boot it and squeeze in on the A2 slip. Classic bit of poor road design which leads to hostility.

When travelling anti-clockwise on the M25, the only place where the gantry and road markings indicate the right hand lane for the A2 eastbound is at the bottom of the off ramp. At the next gantry/lights A2 traffic should be in lane 3 (of 4). After that the road markings make it quite clear which lane to be in. The crunch comes here where lanes 1 & 2 can, according to the road markings, both be used by A2 eastbound traffic. However, the on ramp very soon narrows from two lanes to one thus causing a pinch point. Unless people are sensible and merge in turn that's where it gets messy.

I live very close to J2. I can usually predict who the muppets will be that don't have a clue about following lane markings, so I seldom have any problems.
They should put those "idiot proof" white lane markings across that first area past the first set of traffic lights to try and guide people into the correct lane. I always find the merge in turn on the sliproad works fairly smoothly, it's everything before hand that seems to cause issues!
