Spitfire, Merlins and Motors + Breakfast Meet At Finchingfield & Hoon To Duxford - Saturday 26th July 2014

Some of you many know that both Richard (moleCSL) and I organised two rather special events last summer, the first of which was The Cressing Temple Motor Show meet which included breakfast and a two hour spirited drive across some of Essex's finest roads. The second was Classic & Sports Cars by The Lake which included an early morning breakfast meet at Paul Stephens Porsche.

Both of these two events were very well received by everybody that attended, so much so that I keep getting pestered to pull my finger out and get something organise for 2014.

Unfortunately notice for the first outing of 2014 isn't going to be huge as I have only just had confirmation from the Imperial War Museum that I've secured a plot for our display of 25 cars, in total there will be 1,300 cars in attendance, it is going to be huge. Including the cars there will also be a variety of Spitfires on the ground before watching them take to the sky to perform a flying display. The event has all the ingredients to make it the best Breakfast Hoon & Display yet.

Location - Display:
The Imperial War Museum - Duxford
Cambridge
CB22 4QR

Location - Breakfast:
Bosworth's
The Green
Finchingfield
Essex
CM7 4JX

Additional Information:http://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-duxford/spitfires...

The Convoy:
Similar to the past events we will be organising a convoy to the show, the meeting place for now is Bosworths Tea Rooms & Restaurant where a full English Breakfast will be available from early doors for those of you who want to take a nose at other peoples machinery prior to setting off for Duxford.

We will ensure that the route is plotted out (as per the past events), meaning there will be a superb variety of twisty / open roads which we can all enjoy on route.

The Cost:
There will be a charge of £10 Per Car which is handed directly to the Imperial War Museum

More Convincing:
- Cressing Temple Motorshow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae1u6y1Rgck
- Classic & Sports Cars By The Lake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWr9uRd4Hec

Timings:
It is going to be an early start for most but we can assure you it will be worth it!
Bosworths Breakfast Meet - 7:30am

Look Forward To Seeing You All....

Ideally we'd like to have all cars in place at 9:30 / 10 am, and it should run to about about 4pm. However if you'd like me to organise you an escort off site earlier I can do this, shouldn't be an issue.

I'll be talking to the Imperial War Museum later in the week so do let me know, may as well get your name down as well so you don't miss out.

I've only been allocated 25 slots......

Frayz,

Not a problem, if you can just keep me posted that would be great as I do need to get the correct car information over to the Imperial War Museum before the event.

OK, for the third time can someone please answer the question about the departure time. I've asked twice an AC Bilko has asked too.

I also believe there is no answer to the price question about per car or per person.

ans T31WRC's question above.

Good Morning All,

Firstly I'd like to apologise for the lack of communication during the last week, I've been on a tour of France which included Tours, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Cannes and Beaune for those of you that are interested. Over 2000 miles and all done in my little Smart ForTwo CDI which didn't miss a beat.

Right, this weekends Spitfire, Merlins & Motors, gates open for the event at 10am but we don't have to be on site bang on time (this has been cleared by Duxford) therefore I think meeting at Finchingfield at 7:30 / 8 am would be ideal and then we can aim to leave for the drive at 9am after breakfast.

A direct route to Duxford is about 45 minutes however I intend to extend this to about 1 Hour 30 Mins, the route is to be driven and decided this evening and once I will draw up a map to handout on the morning of the event.

To confirm the prices are £10 Per Person, I am awaiting pricing for Children and Senior Citizens, once I have this information I will post the information later today.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me, all posts will be answered quickly now as I'm now back in front of my computer.

Nick

Update:

Last night both moleEVO and I drove the route from Finchingfield to Duxford and we should all have an absolute field day on Saturday morning, the route is 50 miles long and goes through three different counties.

Today we are drawing up the necessary files for Google Maps, and Sat Nav's etc, this will be distributed to anybody who has already requested it within plenty of time before we leave on Saturday.

A quick pic below of moleEVO's car outside Saturdays finishing line:

Morning All,

Just had it confirmed that if anybody wants to leave the display early Duxford are okay with this, just incase any of you were thinking you could pop in for an hour or so, unfortunately the £10 per person will still be charged.

It would be nice to have as many cars park up as possible, even if it is for a short time.

Nick
