Porsche Colchester Breakfast - Sunday 31st May,
Discussion
Hi all,
Got the email through from Porsche today about the next breakfast meet, i'm sure some of you have been to the previous two and the turn out has been pretty impressive. Same again with this one, round at the service compound on the Sunday morning, 9am-Lunch, coffee and BBQ breakfast, £5 per car if you want to showcase yours, regardless of marque.
I have also heard, and will try to confirm, that Mr Paul Bailey will be bringing his hypercar trio along to this one, and the other local 918 might be brought down too. Will try and find out if this is true, will be pretty cool!
Thought some people may be up for a drive that ends at Porsche in the morning. Richard, the sales manager, is a friend of mine, and I've already suggested that if we did a run ending at the breakfast gathering, if we could have a little slot of 15 spaces or so together for us to park up in. If this is something people are interested in, let me know here and i'll see if I can confirm this! The sooner the better!
Update...
So people seem keen, plenty will undoubtedly want to head up anyway. Will work on a route with a nice central meeting place and some fun but wide/smooth roads so all cars can enjoy it and get the details up ASAP for those that fancy a drive. The list is going down the posts, if you fancy joining the drive, add yourself on and I'll update it on here. If you cant make/dont fancy the drive, you can still attend the event regardless, all Porsche are asking is a £5 donation to the Whizz Kids charity per each car that comes along.
The Route!
Start point is at the Toby Carvery in Runwell, just off the roundabouts and has a nice big carpark tucked over the back, easy to find. Address is Runwell Road, Wickford SS11 7QJ.
The route goes up via Bicknacre, Maldon, Great Totham, Tiptree, and Abberton reservoir before cutting back round to Stanway and blat up the A12 to Porsche.
If you would like a google maps link for the route, please pm me. If you cant make the start point, welcome to try and latch on along the way.

I'll give Richard a shout about sorting something out then.
In terms of a pre-breakfast drive, what do people want? I know that if some people were to bring bigger, lower supercars, they struggle with some of the backroads we have made use of before (Pete's murci springs to mind!) - maybe just a central meet point and make use of some of the bigger A roads that go from Halstead to Sudbury past Paul Stephens, as an example? Still good roads, but suitable for the full range of cars..

Sounds good guys, I've contact Richard and will find out if we can get a block of spaces together, so we can present as a united Pistonheads front
Even if you cant park in the PH slot, there is plenty of room there so no need to worry about not getting in, we'll all be there early!
Whats this new abberton road you chaps speak of?!

Sorry for the slow response guys, am on work experience this week so enduring some long days of tv-making!
Richard from porsche said just be there before 9 to get a slot of spaces, but from what Brad and Carl have said, we may need to be earlied. Maybe 8.30? Drive doesnt need to be particularly long, we can meet at some central point then go for a quick blast!
As a result of the "just be early" philosphy for spaces, no limit on convoy/groupings or whatever so whoever fancies it is in!
If i can get some feedback on what people would like in terms of drive length we can firm up a time. Maybe a 7.30ish departure from somewhere in middle essex...

Working on a route for this now. Probably start woodham ferrers/bicknacre sort of direction to make it an easy central start point. If you have any thoughts on a specific location to start at then do let me know, not that many places are open at 7/7.30am on a Sunday!
If you know of people who are heading to the Brekky let them know we'll be driving up, the more the merrier. Aiming for wider, smoother roads to suit some of the exotics!

Gonna go give the route an early morning test run this weekend, will confirm the details after that! Its possible that Richard might not be able to make it and help lead, so unless you all want to be following my not amazingly fast diesel golf, if anyone is up for helping me out in terms of leading the way that'd be great!
Right all, test ran the route this morning at the same sort of time as we'll be going, has some nice fast bits and then slows down through the little towns/villages but on the most part is good fun. All very good smooth wide roads too, apart from about 500 yards of resurfacing at Great Totham.

Took me about 50 minutes today in my Golf, so I reckon leave at about 7.40ish next sunday should get us to Porsche for a decent time before it gets hectic. If you want to jump on along the route you can always try, if you'd like the google maps link for the route, send me a PM!
So, I know we have a little list already but if you can all confirm who will be attending the drive, let me know here, we'll compile the list, then we know who to be looking for before we leave!
Cheers

I don't see any mention of breakfast in this post lol. ?
Rob, Brekky is all at OPC in the form of some BBQ breakfast company or something so bring some cash! Being there a bit earlier than the official start time we can hopefully get in before queues grow. Also a reminder to everyone who is going to bring and display their car, Porsche ask for £5 per car to go to the Whizz Kids Charity for entry.

Agreed James sounds good, thanks for test running the route for us, I will be there.
Although I would say that you need to be strict on the leaving time, I think 7:30 would be better. The last one of these was rammed by 9am so I think we definitely need to be arriving by 8:30. So allowing an hours run time to account for any eventualities might be preferable.
Sounds good Brad, thinks for the tips, I havent made either of the previous events so wasnt sure how bad it gets in terms of turnout! 7.30 it is.
