Woking / Old Woking

Hi all,

Looking to move into a flatshare in Woking shortly as will be starting work there shortly. As I don't know the area at all, I'll be looking to stay around Woking for now to reduce commuting time.

Can anyone give me an idea of what Old Woking is like? I'm due to see a really nice flat there, the only concern is that it looks to be a 25-30 min walk to the station. This is something I'd only do a couple of times a week at the most, but if the walk will take me through some rough areas it becomes less appealing.

I have another option of a place in Woking itself, which is much closer to the station but the flat isn't as nice.

Fold-up bike is a good idea, I will bear that in mind.

The place I will be looking at is part of the Gresham Mill development. I'm thinking this will be a 25-30 min walk to the station - is this ambitious? I'm not so fussed for local amenities as I spend most week nights at the gym or running, but good to know there is a relatively ok pub nearby in case I fancy a swift pint from time to time.

I'm coming from South Essex, so I'm sure anywhere in Surrey will be just fine.
