Hi all,

Is anyone keen for an early morning drive at some point followed by breakfast somewhere? There might be Facebook pages already set up for this but I'm in Oxford and not aware of any.

Just register interest at this stage and can sort the detail later.

Thanks

Simon

Yes I saw the Bucks cars and coffee thread and intended to go to the next, however this is more of a meet rather than drive.

OK, lets set a date - can those who have already expressed interest do Sunday 8th August? It would be early doors to avoid traffic and being stuck behind Sunday dwardlers. I can compile a route which other than the start and finish points, will be kept offline but emailed to those who are keen in advance.

Anyone else who is interested please could you add / remove from the list below and include PH name, car and rough idea of your location below as this will help with planning a route.

This is by no means an attempt with stepping on the toes of existing meets, just a fun, spirited but safe drive out with fellow minded PH's, with a bit of breakfast after.

Right gents, some strong interest so far, lets hope it stays that way. To make it safe and enjoyable for others and so that we don't continually have to regroup, I think we need to limit to 10 cars, so I've updated the list. We can have a reserve list as people inevitably do drop out, if you do, please update the list.

1. Si_xsi - Golf R32 - Oxford
2. Kovac - S4 - Maidenhead
3. Lance RS - e46 330 - High Wycombe
4. Frimley111R - Er...Frimley!
5. John D - Reading
6. Mr Tidy - Z4Coupe - Sandhurst
7. carmaddave GT2 Reading
8. Miner49er - Impreza - Beaconsfield

Unfortunately I'm never going to please everyone with a start/end point but considering my location and the majority of those already signed up, the start point will be Reading services heading WESTBOUND on the M4. The route is 107 miles so we will be out for a good couple of hours but will have a comfort break half way. The end point is Reading services EASTBOUND on the M4. The route has been tried and tested and a good mix of roads, it will be emailed a few days before.

Keen to get going by 7am sharp, as it does start to get busy after that. Any questions let me know.

Thanks

Simon

Depending on how this weekend goes we can look to do something more frequently, the difficulty is trying to find somewhere good for all to start / finish.

I shall email out tonight the route for this coming Sundays drive. Look forward to meeting you all, weather looks decent too.

Illmonkey I'm afraid to say yes that was indeed me. I was sat queuing stationary in traffic on a dual carriageway and some clown in a polo rear ended me at 50mph. Just got back from a and E but not after waiting 2 hours for recovery.

So needless to say it is with huge regret that I am going to have to postpone this weekends drive. I don't think it will be as much fun in whatever courtesy car I will be given! Absolutely gutted that my lovely supercharged R32 is unlikely to be on the road again. I wouldn't want it back to be honest, will never drive the same again. Glad I sunk £5k into the car to get the clutch, chains and pistons sorted in January and 5 mins before brimmed the tank with V power.

Currently at home with whiplash, sore back and arm and not looking forward to spending the day on the phone tomorrow speaking to insurance companies. On the other hand, it does mean I can partake in one of my other favourite past times, looking for a new car.

Sorry chaps, it wasn't to be, but hope to rearrange again soon.

Thanks mate. Just so gutted about my car, I loved it. Not sure what to do or get next but thankfully declared my modifications with insurers. I have no where to store the car even if I did by it back and don't have the time to find another, swap engine over etc, need a car for work.

True that, thanks Lance. Insurance company were going to give me either audi a3, BMW 1 series or strangely an astra vxr but seeing as they didn't have any of those available, I'm getting a Mercedes c350 E sport! Hybrid petrol thing with 275bhp and rides on air suspension which should be perfect for my aching body!

It certainly has, I've been doing scatty things all day, like trying to put my shoes on before putting socks on, feels like I've had about 4 pints for breakfast then done 10 rounds with amir Khan whilst taking about 25 calls from insurers, recovery, solicitors and repeating myself like dustin hoffman.

Right chaps, I picked up my new steed today, so once I've got fully acquainted with her, I'll set a date for the drive that should have been. If the moron who ploughed into the back of me a few weeks ago could give me a wide berth for...well eternity, that would be amazing.

Absolutely fuming with how distracted she must of been not to see 2 lanes of stationary traffic half a mile ahead on a straight well sighted by pass, or even break.

Well having just returned from a little break in Bruges - Belgium, she runs well, but the ride is quite a lot softer than my last one as its on standard suspension, a bit 'boaty' and the breaks will need improving, but I can sort that in due course. The main difference is less power than before but still enough to have a fun drive!

As for a revised date, how does Sunday 2nd October sound for people? Same format as before, limit to 10 cars, I will email the route beforehand by separate email. Start point Reading Services Westbound on the M4, leave 7am sharp, end point is Reading services on M4 Eastbound. Please add your name to the list below if you would like to come along. Any questions shout.

I've organised a few runs before and they seemed to go down well, will see how this one goes and all well I'd be happy to set something up say every 2-3 months. Should give you time to run the new engine in thumbup

The key is finding a date which suits all - very difficult unfortunately, and choosing a good route. The earlier in the day the better really, to avoid Sunday slow coaches!

If it's pissing with rain I won't be there btw.

To confirm, at 7am we are meeting on the Westbound services (that's heading from Reading J11 to Theale J12) ?
Why, are your wipers broken because that's the only acceptable excuse! wink

Yes Westbound M4 services just before Theale, in the services parking rather than fuel section. 7AM sharp. I can send the route to people if they want, otherwise it will be a surprise.

Look forward to meeting you all on Sunday. Weather looks to be ok.
