I've just acquired a watch that needs a bit of mechanical attention - can anyone recommend a good watchmaker in the Thames Valley? It's not super-valuable so I'd prefer not to pay £500 to have it serviced...

cheers, Ewan

Thanks guys, I was wondering about Ora in Wokingham as they are pretty nearby though they were closed yesterday otherwise I'd have popped in.

As it is, I went to my go-to jeweller, James Bloor in Tilehurst, to see if they might be able to pop the movement out of the watch (it's a front-loader) so I could see what's inscribed, get the serial no, and put the 2nd hand back on (as it had fallen off redface) They had a guy in the back who I think might visit them on rota, that was experienced with watch servicing (he even pointed out that the 2nd hand on mine is wrong, and said the movement is strong and was one of his favourites). He had it sorted tickety boo and all for a lot less cash than anyone else, I suspect.

James is a petrolhead himself (as is assistant, Greg) - he's just got a Focus RS to add to the Mk I Focus RS he also has...
