Lucky escape it looks like - that is nasty bit of road with some very poor design.
It was a very very lucky escape.

Don't think poor design came into this. The car sped past a line of cars waiting at the red lights of a pedestrian crossing, which are 20yds in front of another set of lights, which are 20 yds in front of a busy roundabout. Not only was there mum and baby crossing but just behind them a group of kids.
Poor and reckless driving came into it not road design.

I'm not disputing the driving experienced was very dangerous. The farnborugh gate roundabout and the way it is integrated into the A331, retail park and up towards frimley is very poor, lots of opportunity for accidents and near misses, without adding in anyone who doesn't understand a red light.
Absolutely agree about that part of the road network- chaos every rush hour or whenever McDs has a queue. However this happened here - so pretty much unrelated to the A331 section. Just where the black car ahead of the white van is entering the ped crossing. Theres only 5 red lights he would have seen!

The police's attitude in dismissing the case as there's no injury is a bit astonishing. Damage to property requires the driver to stop.

If the car description - white C320 2001 to 2007 that's a W203 and I wouldn't have thought there would be loads of them around.
Indeed but thats their policy apparently

The merc will also have some paint missing on the front wing/bumper as thats been left on the pushchair !

I understand the parents' frustration, but TBH, the Police really cannot do anything here.

There is far too little evidence.

Thank God the kid is fine.
So can I because I'm one of the parents.

However what is sad and disappointing is the sheer lack of effort eg the council cc TVs camera down the road. It's very odds on the car came that way and when we drive past it later is was pointing correctly. Perhaps just perhaps looking at the recording 1min before impact could have identified a possible car rant could then have been paint matched to the paint left on the push chair

However its policy set from above and I do belive it's not because they don't want to it's purely simply down to lack of resource and £££
