Can anybody help out and describe exactly where chassis number is positioned on a genuine round tube Ginetta G4. We have not been able to locate the chassis number on our project car yet. The car have been stored in a cold storage for more than 30 years and the paint of the chassis is in bad condition with lots of surface rust that makes it difficult to see.
To be able to prove the identity of the vehicle to the authorities we would like to locate the number before we start working on the car (with sandblasting, new paint and all the rest).

Help with a description of exactly where we should search for the chassis number is very much appreciated! Or did the round tube cars even have the number stamped on to the chassis?

Yes the car is in Sweden, an ex racecar. My father in law have owned it since the mid 1970:ies.

Ok, upper left tube or cross member. We'll have a look there. Is the position close to anything that we can relate to (like a shock absorber mount or something like that). Front or rear part of the engine compartment?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys! I'll inform my father in law so he can have a look at ours! With your help it shouldn't be a problem to find!

By the way, are there any known records of which years certain chassis numbers were made?

Good news! We have found a chassis number. However we need to bring the car out from its current storage position before we can have a closer look. Right now it's a little difficult to reach under the bonnet and we need to rub off some more paint first to make it possible to read the whole number properly. We will probably do that during the Easter holidays.
When we have the full number we will contact Trevor Pyman to see if he can help out regarding production year (and other facts).

Thank you all for your help and support!
