Fairly simple DIY job to replace or best left to a proper mechanic?

What is telling you they need doing?
It failed the mot due to fumes under the bonnet and in the cabin. Mot tester advised its a common fault. What I thought was a noisy water pump may be the injector according to the Internet.

Ended up getting it towed to a garage. Apparently the fuel system was air locked. They used a compressor to pressurise the fuel tank and had it going within the hour.
Turned out one of the injector seals was still leaking but not one of the two that had been leaking before so a bit (more) shoddy workmanship from me.silly

£105 later and it's working again.

Mechanic mentioned that if it had been a mondeo tdci he wouldn't have touched it.

Mot on Saturday and start looking for something Japanese to replace it.
