After starting the car, the exhaust blows out white smoke that doesnt seem to clear for quite some time. Some people seem to think this is just because the car has been off the road for so long and that it's not a problem, but from experience I fear the worst.

The car is still a 1600cc, the engine is low compression running big power and it's not the turbo as that's relatively new.

Can anyone help? frown

No nothing at all, not losing any water, no mayonaise etc..

The reason the car was off the road in the first place was because the headgasket went and the engine has been fully rebuilt, using a Felpro gasket.
What head gasket would you guy's recommend? Opinion seems to be split on the Felpro jobbie.

Is there any chance this smoke could be connected to the turbo?

Whatever it is I have a feeling its not going to be cheap.

White smoke is usually the turbo to be honest. Blue smoke is caused by oil burning in the engine. If you add oil to the exhaust system, it evaporates into white smoke. On a turbo car this is usually because the turbo seals have gone.

It's a very common misconception that all white smoke is water vapour....
That's what I thought, but not what I wanted to hear..

I have been told by two 'reputable tuners' near me that a turbo on it's way out is usually blue smoke, although I was under the impression that it was white. I'll get it sorted, cheers lads.
