Ha Neil - no doubt smile

However I went the way Nigel does in the Fia cars (ala same as yours). I have two full batwing mount kits now, with all the mountings. Not sure they'd be up to the silly power the arse end is going to get subjected to.

LHD to RHD not an issue in so far as nothing really there. But a big job to get it all solid with lots of very tasty mounts, some visble some not.

Just to put these old "TVR's" into perspective for the drivers of the "New" stuff.

This thing is 7" shorter than a Triumph Spitfire (but 11" Wider), has a wheelbase 5.5" less than a Chim / 90's Griff and 15.5" less than a Cerb.

It went to the US on a boat in 64 and was ther 3rd one made (200-5-017) after the prototype.

Jack Griffith (where the name comes from), did a deal similar to Shelby with the Cobra with TVR and the Grantura to ship these little MG engined cars to the US minus the drivetrain and he worked through the hurdles to re-engineer them for the Ford 289 V8 (Std and HiPo's)and Transmissions.

They were never sold as TVR's btw. Only made about 285ish of them before a big shipping strike put the Kibosh on the run. They made a small run of the later rear end shape 400's in the UK (13 I think), that were the same as the last from the Griffith factory bar being RHD. Then post these they gradually morphed into the later cars, longer wheelbase and then the later and later body mods.

The WHAT!?

ER Ya!!

Race series, Thoroughbreds, CSCC Swing Sixties and a Euro Series for Historic (like the other two Historic but with some mods allowed (better brakes, tyre, tweeked motor).

I do love the colour Dink.

Approx 1985!

The original HiPo engine is still in the garage. Totally stripped (looks like mildly tweeked heads)down to last nut / bolt. Not sure I'll ever use it. There are getting very rare now (not even had first overbore).

Car in France in mid 2000's.

Chap spent 4+ years stripping it all every last component and starting some refurb work / find minor missing bits, he had to give up (had an E-type race project on too) as he could see it would take another 4+ years doing on his own. So bought the lot (popped down with trailer and Volvo). Volvo full of boxes of bits and the new chassis to replace original that has turned to dust (from David Gerald approx 2000/1 (went to the States when the previous owners was thinking he could start the restoration - before changes his mind), so whole lot came to France (including the new chassis)). Some of what the French guy did was good but alot was wrong and much had to redone (mainly the body). But was basically starting a massive jigsaw puzzle. Will have original body and bonnet (with all required mod - the biggest job) and lots of other bits where it makes sense.

Cooking lump we had built for it.

You might be right.

Update. MOT, Suspension Setup, Insured and now registered with DVLA. Not turned a wheel under own power for estimated 40 years.

This was a while back now (as a few people that have built these have told me) the last little bits seem to take for ever....

It LIVES - Video

Hopefully will get to drive it soon(!), work (and a bit of racing) is getting in the way a lot at present.

Need some minor bits to finish, like the Fire system to fit, front wheel arches and door mirrors.

Cheers Vic.

I am looking forward to driving it. It will be nuts with the short wheelbase (5.5" shorter than Chim), with a lot more power and a lot less weight.

Driven a similar mate racer a few months back and that was exactly how I thought it would be (bit less power).

Should be FUN.

5.5" extra in the wheelbase.

All cars after that, till the cerb and T series cars were 90" wheelbases.

There will be a second seat for you Whitey. Will be in our Hood soon.

Brumm it will stop. Alcons 4 pots and 305mm vented AP disc at the front will sort that.

Yep subtraction was never my strong point Neil 90 - 85.5 is of course 4.5....

Only so much you can get inside a 15" rim Brumm - that is about it.

ALOT less weight than your Cerb to stop, guessing about 950kg, close close to 200kg less that the Purple Chim.

Spit pedals defo the way to go.

Mine will get plenty or road and track day testing, long before it races - was going to be this year (Silverstone MG Live), but no way that was going to happen by the spring with a new job and amount of travel I was doing. Did it in the 6.

Those early pic's were just before it was packaged up for the trip to France, to the guy last had it before me. Will be doing plenty of trackdays and testing in it + some Sunday run outs before any racing (next year now), have a few more race this year to do (TR6).

Father has said he would not mind another project after this one - but for his self. he is not sure what yet - Maybe next year.

Nice. What are the bars over the window for?
I'm going to guess, and we'll see if I'm right or not!

My Guess: Race regulations state that screens have to be bonded to the surrounding bodywork, or retained by metal fastenings of some description.

As the screen is held in by rubbers only there might be a chance it'd "pop out" if wind comes in the front of the car from an open window.
Close - not a regulation. But they do have a habit of popping out when going v.fast. These hold it pulling top and bottom through tiny rose joints on a rod a fraction undersize to pull the top an bottom of the screen together + the centre of the rods touch the curve of the screen keeping it pressing that way too.
