Hi folks

This is a query for those people who own Speed sixes with BW T5 gear boxes
and are fed up with burning their hands when changing gears.

I'm looking at getting a replacement gear shaft/level done (and possibly one for the brake handle) which will be non-conductive and stop the heat coming up from the exhaust manifolds.

A similar run was done a few years back, but are not currently offered, so I'm getting a few done for me.

If anyone else is interested in a set, email me and I'll see if I can get enough produced for those who want them. They are just a CNC from the existing part in a suitable Tufnol or other composite, so should not be too pricy.

No prices yet however.

It is not something I'm getting done immediately, but will be looking at over the next month or so.

They will be based on the existing design and will be done in a material that can handle the stress. The company that is doing them for me do this sort of precision engineering all the time, so they know what they are doing.

(Note - If you're "man enough" to handle the heat, then good for you, you don't need to bother responding to the thread. Filtering out "silly comments" is something I get a bit bored of sometimes tongue out)

Cheers!

Addition - just chatted with GrahamV who did the original order. He is happy to do us another batch of the same if enough people are interested.

So, let me know if you are and I'll co-ordinate things as appropriate.

If you have any problems let me know. I will happily make some if you can provide me with a drawing. I can also offer alternatives to Tufnol which are cheaper and just as good.

Alex,
I'm in the same situation. Gear lever mod done a couple of years ago, but would be interested in the handbrake mod.

What would be involved regarding changing the handbrake lever?
Nick
Hi Nick

Not fully looked at this one yet, but would probably involve changing the grip for something non conductive, possibly the button as well. Will let you know more details when available.

Cheers!

Blast from the past. Forgot about this thread.

I sorted something out from various sources. Not sure if they will still do it, but could check
