I have been after a Saggy now for about 12 months, I have been to see 7 of the ones in the classifieds all of which are sale or return, I put in 3 offers which I think were the right price.
I have been turned down on all of them.
My question is 9 of the ones for sale have been up for over 9 months, and the 3 I have put bids on have been for sale for over a year, one for 18 months, is this just the dealers jumping up the prices as my offers were only £1500-£2000 less than what they are asking...
With the summer on its way out soon I thought they would have snatched my hand off....

Hi Gordon - I'm inclined to agree with WolfyJones that "you are losing out on owning a Sag for the sake of £1500". Isn't that cutting your nose off to spite your face?

From a dealer's point of view, the £1500 is coming off the profit, NOT the price of the car. IE say the car is £50k less £1500, that's only 3%; but if the £1500 is off the dealers margin of say £3000, that's 50%.

And then when the dealer sells the Sagaris, where is he going to easily find another? So he might as well hang on for the asking price.
I must agree with you James, the ones I looked at were not top notch cars, I felt they all needed around £1500-£2000 grand spend on them hence my offer,s

Whilst it is difficult to believe why the seller will not budge at all on the asking price, it is also difficult to believe that the OP'er won't go up by just £1.5k-£2k to get what you want - surely you don't really want a Sagaris badly enough? If its a money issue then suggest you cannot afford to run one if you are struggling to find a spare £1.5 to £2k.

If its out of principle then - despite people trying to talk the prices down - they will continue to rise: probably not enough to give a decent return if you are looking for an investment but decent enough to not worry about £1.5k to £2k over a long term period.
I think that's a bit harsh saying I cannot afford to run a Sag, I have had 6 Tvrs all serviced by TVR POWER every year my cars need for nothing, please don't challenge my pockets, and I am a cash buyer so don't need finance so thought my offers were fair...

Have to agree it is a funny old market out there for Sag's ATM.

When I was looking towards the end of last year I saw several and made three offers before I finally settled on another one. All three were held by dealers on an SOR basis and two of those are still for sale. In fact one dealer told me he thought all of the Sag's for sale via dealers at the time were being held on an SOR basis.

In all cases the dealers went back to the sellers but they all came back saying they didn't actually drive the cars now and were hanging on until they got the asking price as they didn't need the money.
That's the feed back I am getting, going to see the one at racing green tomorrow, if I cant have a second hand one I might as well try and buy a new one.....

I don't think this thread is about Sag prices, judging by the original post.
There are plenty of other threads that discuss the prices of Sags, but this seems to be more about the unwillingness of owners to sell or move on prices. Not directly the prices themselves.

Whilst i agree whole heartedly that anything is "only worth what someone is willing to pay", the same can be said that if no-one is willing to sell at that price then it is worth more.
i.e. me being willing to only pay £10 for a Bugatti Veyron does not make it worth £10. It is a combination of what the seller is willing to part with the car for and my willingness to part with my cash

If you're opinion "isn't going to change" then why are you on a forum? the whole point of a forum is to exchange ideas and opinions and to change them accordingly.
Can you honestly tell me that you have never read or seen anything that has changed your mind? If that is the case then (once again) why are you here?
Well said, the problem I have is begin brought up in the traveling society (yes )
I am always looking for a bit of money off and having a deal is part of the fun of wheeling and dealing.......
Edit to say: many thanks for the offers to buy my Tuscan but it is not for sale, sorry if I confused some people but I would love a Saggy as well as the Tuscan, you cant have enough toys.
