Tamy is due to visit Autoglass on Tuesday for a replacement windscreen.

My query is whether, the night before, I should remove the top seal to treat the rusting metal subframe. It looks like the weather will be dry. Autoglass have said I can treat the car after the screen is removed. I don't want to be hanging around waiting for them to remove the screen but will if need be.

Is the seal just to weather the screen and targa with the screen bonded in place?

Cheers.

Haven't got the time for that, unfortunately.

I'm going to remove the outer seal and treat what gets exposed. Do need some minor bits from TVR parts so shall add them to the list for future fitting.

TVR , it's a life choice!

Where abouts in Surrey do you live, I have to collects some parts from TVR today and Whoopies at Frimley, if you live near Guildford -Godalming area, I might be able to help.

Thanks for the offer but don't worry this time. Outlaws live in Sandhurst so can pop in 'en route'.

Unfortunately, I am at capacity for jobs at the moment. Screen has to be fixed just don't have the time to add on anything more than a rust treatment.

Well, if it's that bad then I'll have to reorganise some things. Will lift the seal tonight and treat what I can.

No offence taken Glen.

I fully agree, it is going to bug me that it's not done. However, Tamy will get a new interior in due course which will mean the screen out so that appeases me slightly.

Just lifted the seal and it's not bad. The top rail is poor and I've treated the whole exposed area. Off to drop it off now. I'll have to see what the fitter says.

I have checked with TVR Parts and they have them in stock so if need be I'll call off sick and drive there tomorrow. Does any one know the type of pop rivet used? It's not a stupidly long one? Please let it be a standard size.

Got here and the new screen has a scratch in it. Right I the driver's sight line on the curve section. They are trying to polish it out but they are struggling. Looks like I'll have the chance to fit the s/s items.

Tamy is done. There was a bit of rust under the screen but the guy has treated that yesterdeay. If he'd asked I'd have shown him the treatment kit in the footwell! Screen is curing now so due to collect around 3pm.

Right, now the heater module to fix and relocate.

Picked up Tamy and all seems well. Final bit of trimming needed on some silicone that has squeezed out of the trim. I'll let it cure for a good few days before running a sharp knife over it.

On to the next job.

One of the branded rust converters. They said that there wasn't very much rust at all and was confident that the section didn't need respraying.

ETA It's leagues better than the screen in my S photos of which I've posted pics for you before.
