Announcement just released (well I've just received it anyway, date must be retrospective):

"Power's Performance would like to announce that as of 23rd April 2015 in order to not invalidate a Power's Performance engine warranty, service work performed on a Power's Performance rebuilt or upgraded warrantied engine must be carried out by an approved Power's Performance engine service agent. Any work carried out on a Power's Performance warrantied engine by an unauthorised engine service agent will immediately invalidate any remaining Power's Performance engine warranty.

The reason for this is that only Power's Performance quality approved parts may be used in the servicing of Power's Performance rebuilt and upgraded warrantied engines, as this helps to guarantee the life, performance and integrity of the engine. Parts supplied from any other source are not approved by Power's Performance. Unfortunately as members of the TVR Parts Network are no longer able to purchase parts from Power's Performance and subsequently no longer able to use Power's Performance approved parts in their engine servicing work, it necessarily follows that members of the TVR Parts Network are not approved to carry out Power's Performance warrantied engine service work.

For an up to date list of approved Power's Performance engine service agents, call Dom at Power's Performance on 024 7636 6177 or email dom@powersperformance.co.uk"

Await the debate on that one !

had been something missing on post no 1 :

"Powers Performance would like to address the recent formation of the TVR Network and clarify our position regarding the maintenance of our engines.

In light of the growing TVR Network we now find ourselves unable to rely on many of the UK Service centers with the servicing and maintenance of our warrantied engines. We can no longer ensure the correct specification oils, shims, and other service parts are being supplied. Unfortunately this forces us to ensure all warrantied engines are returned to Powers Performance for warrantied servicing.

For more information or questions, please contact Dom directly at Powers Performance."
Strange - that wasn't on the e-mail I received ! There was a very nice picture of an S6 with stainless manifold tho'

Not good news for those who have had a rebuild and live hundreds of miles away. frown

What if the customers bought the service parts themselves, directly from Powers, to be used by the specialist to service the car?
Not sure what the Network agreements say on customer furnished parts but even if it isn't covered off I suspect the new owners would use it as a lever against signed up service centres at renewal time.

I'm presuming they will still allow independents who didn't sign up like HHC to carry on as warranty service locations, last line does suggest Dom agreeing to that.

There are a few if's there - either way it's a gamble. I think Dom said previously he said wanted to stick with the AJP market and whilst that will never get any bigger, there will be a decent revenue stream from the "classic" market for years to come.

When I had a Chimaera back in the nineties, the supplying dealer decided to give up its TVR franchise after falling out with HQ over terms to become a Jensen dealer when they were relaunching (!!!!!!). Also remember a RR/Bentley dealer choosing the former when VW/BMW split the business just before Bentley sales went nuts.

The way things are developing I would like to think there's a sound future for both camps as long as TVR don't constrict the supply of essential proprietary parts. For me the interesting dilemma is for RG / Str8six trying to service both camps.

The more interesting question is whether you'll see STR8six take a RG FFF head, stroked crank and offer the ultimate rebuild.

That wouldn't surprise me at all but I'm suspecting the higher volume, cheaper end "standard" 4.0 rebuild is where the open question is.
