Lots in EVO this month - An editorial, the Cerbera "Black Hound" Test Mule gets a showing, interviews with Gordon Murray and others.
All positive, except the price seems to be drifting higher frown

The main article leads with:

"TVR is on its way back. Over the following 12 pages is everything we've learned so far about its new sports car,and trust us there's plenty to get excited about"

EVO: I've every confidence in Murray's ability to design a brilliant car. I share his belief in low weight, simplicity and the importance of not over-tyring a car or making it too wide. The big question is, will Murray and his team be involved right through the development and production stages? The breadth of talent at GMD is impressive, with designers and engineers with experience in high- and low volume production, Murray is adamant that GMD will be closely involved all the way. Right up until the point that the customer has the keys in his or her hand."

Encouraging, only hope it's a keyless fob though, the Cerbera had that over 20 years ago hehe

Whilst I always thought ergonomics on TVR's were pretty good..

I'd be happy with Gordon Murray's vision of perfect!

On that note..

I was reading an old EVO about the Mclaren F1 today.. and the Gordon Murray designed Mclaren F1 kerb weight(wet) was 1137 Kg

And now we have a Gordon Murray designed TVR with target kerb weight of 1150 Kg! ;-) - with possibly better aero?

Not quite so much power ~500bhp (target 400bhp per tonne) vs 627 bhp, but on the plus side brake technology has moved on a lot since the F1.

And TVR have said the want to develop other models, progressively more powerful perhaps(and more expensive?)

So the new TVR is a welded space frame chassis like the old cars, with infill sandwich sections similar to the Typhon and an American V8. The sandwich sections are filled with carbon fibre on some cars for marketing reasons or is there another benefit ? I feel price is going to be key with that design!
essentially true! ;-) , bit more involved than that.. either the carbon fibre panel or composite sections bonded with the steel chassis will result in a very stiff (good) chassis) to hang the suspension off.

read about istream carbon.
