Many of you will have seen or used the "how many left" data kindly provided by the DVLA which is an interesting snapshot of how many TVRs are still out there and their Status.

The latest data for Q2 shows 10,268 TVRs which are either licensed or registered as SORN.

Of these Two thirds are taxed and one third SORN (Good effort).

Unfortunately when you drill into the data, our favourite manufacturer wasn't the most adept (to be kind) at getting them registered as the right thing, and older models all are lumped together as TVR other.

Still interesting to see how they split up though;

I've grouped together 280S, 290s and V8s as 'S Series' to keep it manageable and the same for other obvious groups.

The 'Missing' category is pretty big, and although this will include all the classic models up to M Series I'm pretty certain there are a lot more in there which should be something else. I love a challenge, so set out trying to explore.

One idea I have been playing with is to compare to the PH list of owners. Of course this is not great data the same car will appear multiple times, and of course some models may have higher representation, although as all are ten years plus now, its likely that most will be owned by enthusiasts rather than daily drivers. At the least its an interesting comparison to split them into the same groups and compare. As it happens there are about 10,000 listed profiles so the numbers are similar and should be a large enough sample size.

I think this supports the theory that a big number of those with 'missing' registrations are wedges; There were a similar number of S models made as wedges, around the same number of PH members, yet the DVLA records a lot less on the road.

Is it safe to assume around 10,600 cars were made by Tvr.
Not many at all.
No, thats just those on the DVLA database which are listed as taxed or SORN, so wont include any made for export, or scrapped or exported since.

Think the overall figure is around 21,000.
