Speed 12 project
Discussion
A quick update for those of you who have taken an interest so far.
Project is still going ahead and the work will be carried out in Blackpool. Project has moved from something along the lines of a semi replica look-a-like project, to a complete rebuild of the original car. This follows the discovery of all the items I didn't previously have which have now become available - and we are talking all original parts. I still don't have the engine, but based on progress so far even that may also be possible! We shall see!
The most important thing at this point is to say a huge thankyou to Richard Thorpe who has sacrificed a considerable amount of time to ensure that we end up with another speed 12 on the road. If your considering a TVR project or race car/LS conversion then Richard is the man to see, providing of course that he can fit you in. His place is packed full of work at the moment. Top bloke, excellent project manager and general TVR guru.
Anyhow, this project will take a considerable period of time to complete and if your interested I'll post something up at key stages.

I do hope you manage to get an engine. Anything else in there just wouldn't be the same. How many Speed 12 running engines were made? 4 or 5? Or was it more?
Three to my knowledge, but unfortunately, there is so much crap written about the S12 and it's variants that it is difficult to see the wood for the trees. dirty boy said:
If you've got time G1AAB, it'd be nice for you to give us a run down of what you have parts wise etc, and what the 'general' plan of attack is.
If you wouldn't mind?
A complete car except for the engine, and all the panels several times over in various colours and materials. If you wouldn't mind?

oooh - come on, moer information.
Where did you source parts?
How long will it take you.
What are the chances of a S12 engine? What is your fall back engine option?
Whats it going to cost to do (ie to compare to the red one for sale)?
Will it fit in my garage!?
Good questions, but I am only willing to answer one of them for now. Lets say one year to complete, maybe a bit less.Where did you source parts?

NOt wanting to steal Graham's thunder but although work has started it's a long way from needing to decide what teh paint is going to be, although I know there have been discussions. I have pics that I've taken on Grahams behalf but I'll only post them if he gives the OK.
It is very early days and I wouldn't want to put the boys up for scrutiny at this early stage by showing pictures yet. All that is happening at the moment is a very basic dry build in preperation for fitting the engine and gearbox, before the engine goes away for further modification... the details of which may or may not be divulged at a later date. However it is V12!Pictures will be posted in due cause. Ash's experience is also persuading me to keep stum for now!

Interesting as clearly not destroyed. Perhaps just dismantled.mccrae said:
there asking around 180k i was thinking 140 was amore realistic price i would love some suggestions
I could make you one that is very similiar with a very limited warranty for circa £250K incl. VAT. It would be tweaked to work reasonably well on the road and be devastating on the track.I could make 10 of the beasts for considerably less per vehicle but the sale price per car would need to be a minimum of £160K inc. VAT. e.g. £140K is too cheap for such a special car.
Actually, all I really need is ten buyers paying upfront and we could have the best race series imaginable. They could be called GMA's or GVR's and the list goes on... suggestions anyone.

The question really is 'why are the side by side'?
The owner of the red car might want to keep it at home or on display?
Is the red one having engine work?
Is the red one providing input to the build?
The red one is in for some engine work so I hear. Fairly minor but had to wait in a queue. The owner of the red car might want to keep it at home or on display?

Certainly not needed for mine as we have all the parts.
