Front vs Rear Suspension Setup

In an effort to get my car through it's MOT I've done quite a bit of work to the front axel's of my Citroen C2. On dismantling the suspension I've realised the shocks are damaged and need replacing.

I've seen a set of Bilstein front coilovers advertised locally, sadly only the fronts are available.

What would be the issue with just replacing the front and leaving the rears for another time?

The car is intended to be a project / track day car but I need an MOT for it first.
