I have an asymmetrically worn tyre on my car and a couple of *good* part worn spares in my garage. Two of the three local tyre fitters won't fit them for me because I didn't buy from them (the real reason - not the reasons given). Half of me sort of agrees with this as restaurants don't normally let you consume your own food and drink at their tables but the excuses given rankle a bit.

One place wont change them because they can't warranty my tyre even though I haven't asked them too.

Another won't because they can't guarantee the legality of the tyre ( it's an AT tyre with ~8mm of tread left).

Fortunately there is a local place that will change it for me. They are my preferred place anyway but have a couple of tyre fitters off sick today so couldmt do it for me there and then, as they usually do, hence my looking elsewhere for a change. Lesson learned - stay loyal and try again tomorrow..!!

I did ask the other two how they dealt with people wanting to change to their winter tyres, and both said they wouldn't do it unless they supplied the tyres "new" each time.

In Poland, every single tyre fitter changes peoples' winter tyres twice a year (off and on) and no doubt benefits from it (financially).

Minor moan... Not even a rant. Curious if others have any similar experiences or comments.
