Brake hose/pipe question.

If any brake pipe or hose (I will not refer to them as 'lines' as this trend for americanisms by british people when posting online makes me want to 
)has a larger internal bore than the others is this likely to affect pedal/lever travel and brake performance?
I have just connected two brake hoses on my bike with a double ended male connector which although only about an inch and a half long it has a larger bore than the other hoses in the system
