It's light but annoying, water trips into it just and I can just feel it with my nail.

Seen this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Windscreen-Windshield-Scra... it's cheap can it create more damage than it fixes?
Or do any national franchises do glass scratches?

Unless it's a rare car where the glass is really expensive the general rule is that it's cheaper to just get it replaced with the £75 excess or whatever you pay as opposed to paying someone for their time to polish it as it's one of the hardest surfaces to polish scratches out of and takes a long time.
I agree but it's not a deep scratch and not in eyeline, I have had a bad exp with complex windscreen swaps and I'm keen to avoid it.

if you are able to post a picture of it then i might be able to give you an opinion. both the wider extent of the arc and the up close detail if possible. In order to get the camera to focus on the scratch put something next to it or else the rangefinder will just go throught the glass
Will do, car in Williams for a few days (mysterious thrum) so as soon as its back .....
