OK, last year I was stupidly painting my exhaust with aluminium spray paint on a windy day, and ended up with fine spots of silver paint (<1mm in size) on my bonnet and front wings. The car is metallic burgundy with I am told a clear top coat.

I want to get the spots off but was told that if I use T-cut it will remove the clear coat in a patchy way and basically mess up the paint job.

Does anyone have any suggestions for removing these spots, which are very small, without taking off the clear coat? I'm thinking some kind of very fine abrasive polish / cutting compound might work.

Oh, and the 'high temperature' exhaust paint all promptly fell off in a matter of a few months anyway so the job was a complete waste of time!!mad

Does that remove paint spots, as opposed to lumps of debris that are just adhered to the paint?
